Last Light over Carolina"Last Light Over Carolina" by Mary Alice Monroe

Life is precious. Love at first sight is special. This book teaches you about shrimping but, most of all, it teaches you about the interaction of people, the love and respect one has for the other or lack thereof due to conditions at hand.

I was pulled into the book by the shrimper who saw the woman of his dreams and made her his wife. I will pulled into the book by the woman in his life who loved the shrimper but became sad when the shrimper was out for months at a time. Missing the love of one's life is difficult. Remembering what's important is also difficult. It's when tragedy happens that one finds the true meaning of love.

Be mesmerized. Learn about the shrimping industry. Eat local shrimp!

"Swimming Lessons" by Mary Alice Monroe

What a beautifully written book this is! I finished reading it just moments ago and I'm still digesting the fact that the story is over. This book was filled with warmth, hope, love and caring. It taught us about the loggerheads and how we actually do help those in need. I had no idea this was going on and am very grateful for it. I love turtles. I love life. To spend one's time helping the nests/eggs is a gift to all. When children do this with such love and concern, it's incredible.

It's a story about a small community that takes care of each other. As they say, it takes a village to raise a child. This is one such example.

"Swimming Lessons" is all about taking chances, reaching for your dreams, helping others and finding love where you least expect it.

Pick up a copy and learn about the loggerheads!

  "Paper Rings" by Teodor Flonta

Ariella grew up in Italy where she had rights. The stores had lots of food. The toy store shelves were filled. She spent her life working hard. She taught school.

Product Details"The Lovesick Cure" by Pamela Morsi

"The Lovesick Cure" is well written, easy to read and enjoy. Pamela's writing style is one of sincerity and down home warmth. What a wonderful respite to finally read a book that has no sexual explanations. How wonderful to read a book that keeps you wondering, keeps you hoping and keeps you fascinated from the first page until the last.

Each character in the story is well developed and you get the warmth in each. The setting is a small town with a cabin up a steep and hard to travel path.

How Books Help

Hi. I want to take the time to sit down with you and tell you how important/special books are to me. They are treasures.

Books help me escape into worlds I would never have imagined. In "Leaving Time" I actually pictured myself "leaving time" each and every time I took a nap. In "A Luminous Future" I actually imaged walking down the dirt roads worried I'd be punished for being in the wrong place. In "Unfit" I actually imaged being in the dilapidated house watching her mother drink as she rocked in the rocking chair. In "I Just Came Here to Dance" I actually imagined dancing on the porch with the beautiful scenery before me. I could go on and on with all the books I have written. These will suffice.

Books are ways to help you expand your mind.

Books are treasures.

"Songs of the Humpback Whale" by Jodi Picoult

A uniquely written story. I, for one, have never read anything quite like it.

This book tells a story about a family and two friends. There are five people in all. Each person's view is told throughout the book. Yes, as things happen, a person tells his/her view and another person who experienced the same thing tells his/her view. As different people speak, the font is changed so you can  can hear them talking. It makes you sit and listen. It makes you hear what the person is talking about.

To give you an idea, there is a family of three who live in San Diego. The father studies humpback whales, the mother works with special needs children in a school and the daughter is 14 years old. You will read about how the family acted/reacted to the happenings in their lives. Just imagine, reading a book where the daughter is speaking and you can feel her thoughts. Growing up, we never spoke up or shared our ideas. This is a book that shows you how it can work for you.

In life, we each see, feel and hear things differently. We're unique. That is the basis of this line of storytelling. Jodi did a great job in telling the story.

This is a book that will hold your attention from the beginning. One that will keep you wondering. It also has a bit of a surprise in it. It's a book filled with feelings.

Thank you, Jodi!

"Leaving Time" by Jodi Picoult

Alice is a scientist studying elephants in South Africa. The African plains come before your eyes with the elephants, lions and other animals that live there in the wild. Alice knows the elephants by name just by looking at their ears or other body markings. Each elephant has a personality and they have beautiful interactions within the herd. Hear the sounds the elephants make. See the way the mother takes care of her infant. To me, it's a sight to behold.

This is a story that makes your emotions go wild. You learn about elephants. You learn about human nature and the need for certain individuals to do more than just observe.

This is a story about a little girl who is searching for her mom who left her after an accident when she was just a young child.

"Leaving Time" is about how love and hope help you go on until you find what you are looking for.

Hold onto your tissues. I cried and had to take time to embrace the story. What a GREAT book! Pick up a copy today!

"The Storyteller" moved me beyond words. I was captivated by the book. I was engrossed to the point where I couldn't wait to pick it back up again when I had time to read. This is a book that I HAVE to keep on my bookshelf as a reminder of what a good book is. Maybe, someday, I will pick it back up again. For now, I look at the book and smile at what it brought me. Normally, I see books as something to enjoy and then pass along to a friend who passes along to a friend. Not this one.

Thank you, Jodi, for writing such a moving book. My grandparents left Russia before the Holocaust but I have been reading about it for many years. Your book portrays it like none other.

I LOVED this book! One of the best written books I have read to date.

Pick this book up if you want to be engrossed and moved.
