It's 1869. The war between the states is over. Life in the south was, to say the least, a challenge. For the landowners who had slaves to work their fields, they were now lucky if the freed men and women would stay to help.
Chaos ruled the land. Outlaws scared the towns. Seeing the freed men and woman as equal was quite another story. Of course some had more difficulty than others.
This book is brilliantly written. It's written like a history book in motion. How creative Randy is! I smile thinking back at the hot air balloon ride. A bit of joy between the hardships.
This book is going up for sale at Amazon on March 31. You can pre-order your copy today.

Have you ever sat down with a series to learn about the people before us to get a better understanding of the world that used to be? This series consists of 16 books and each of the 16 take you on a journey you will enjoy, learn and continue to wonder about. As a nation, we think little about what was. Instead, prosperity and what we WANT has taken over. The USA has become a national of greed. Underneath our homes, businesses, schools and playgrounds, may lay treasures of a past we would not survive. Why? Because we are used to the ways of life as we have been living it.
Our nation is filled with history that is beautiful and filled with strength and character. Fighting for rights and freedom has been the way of life from way back when. Even the Native Americans fought to keep their land. In battle, when lost, they lost their land and had to move on, not knowing if the land would support them with food and shelter. The simple things in life.
"People of the Masks" is the 10th book in the series. I have read the first 9 and will continue on. Yes, I have them all waiting for me. It's important to me.
Life is precious. There are so many of us who take life for granted. The clouds float above but how many of you actually see them? The rivers move carrying nutrients to the land but who sees them? Who hears the birds or the animals who live near the water or in the trees? Do you? Do you take the time to appreciate the world we live in?
The land we call home is precious. Look around and appreciate the small part you call home.
Now go to the library and get "People of the Wolf" (the first book in the series) and sit down and learn the wonders of what was. Come back and leave a comment if you read the book (series). I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Enjoy!

A book that will keep your wings guessing, learning and wondering. A GREAT read!
"Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver is a book unlike any I have read to date. If you are interested in the life around you, this book is a must for you. Picture this: you walk up a trail and before you is a land unlike you have ever seen before. It's brilliant in its light and hue.
Butterflies have always fascinated me. I love watching them and capturing them with my digital camera. I love observing them as they feed and fly. It's interesting when you accidentally startle a butterfly that is feeding in that it flies off the milkweed and returns to the same plant. Patience. It's what we need to see the world around us and understand it.
The world we live in is filled with opportunities, obstacles, ramifications and delight.
Pick up a copy of "Flight Behavior" today. I read this on my Kindle via Overdrive. What a great time I had!

What a sweet love story! This is book 4 in the series. Each book is so wonderful and SO much fun to read!
Marie has a way of writing that puts you right there on the island. You see and hear everything. You can feel the emotions and see the beauty that surrounds you. The tropical storm is just another dimension to what you see and feel. It's how life happens and what can happen.
I HIGHLY recommend picking this book up along with the rest of the series. It's available on Amazon. Right now you can get a copy for your Kindle for $2.99! No matter which format you decide on, you will be SO glad you picked up the series.
I love the McCarthy's and know you will, too!

My FAVORITE book of 2014
A MUST read!
"Unfit" by Lara Cleveland Torgesen is a novel based on some history that you may or may not know about. Think about it. We women have a lot. We are allowed to take care of ourselves as we see fit. We are protected by our rights. We are also free to tackle any career or hobby that we desire. Life in the U.S. as a women is good now. It wasn't always that way.
Years ago, probably before you were even born or through your schooling, there was a law in the south where promiscuous and poor women were sterilized without their consent and, sometimes, without their knowledge. Some men were also sterilized. This story is about surviving the time and the challenges and triumphs. It's a story that will move every sense in your being.
Books that make you move are works of art. This is a work of art. You will laugh and cry and scream and laugh again. You will feel beyond your wildest dreams.
Pick up a copy of "Unfit" today. You will be SO glad you did!

Doctor Kate - Angel on Snowshoes by Adele Comandini
FABULOUS BOOK! WHAT A STORY! A MUST READ!
This is a true story about Kate who wanted to be a doctor from the time she was a young girl. What a life she led! What she gave to SO many people! What she wanted in return. This is a story about triumph and hardships. It's a story about one woman's life and the people she put in her life. This is a story about being strong and doing what one feels right no matter what the consequences.
I don't want to tell you about the story. I want you to pick up a copy and read it. You will be SO glad you did!
They are closed for the winter season but will reopen in June. You can also email them at:
dr.katemuseum@yahoo.com and see if you can obtain a copy of the book. No matter how you purchase a copy, you will enjoy it for years to come. This is a book that inspires. This is a book that makes you smile inside and out. This is a book that makes you feel good.
I was at the Doctor Kate museum in Woodruff a few years ago and I plan on returning. It's an amazing museum. Lots of the instruments she used are there. You can watch a video of her and enjoy the amazing story of how the pennies were collected to build the hospital.
Go to the north woods and you go to a place that is God's country. It's beautiful. It was the home of an amazing doctor, wife, mother and friend (among other).
Doctor Kate: Angel on Snowshoes by Adele Comandini is my favorite book this year. It's on my shelf waiting for another read.
Now go to the website and enjoy the sights. Contact the museum via email and pick up a copy so you can learn about an amazing woman who dedicated her life to helping others.
