"Clara and Mr. Tiffany" by Susan Vreeland


Do you like historical novels? Do you appreciate Tiffany glass and wonder how it all started? Do you wonder how they got their ideas for new pieces? Than this is the book for you. It's filled with history of the times (early 1900's) and takes you back to women fighting for their jobs and the first subway.

This is a book that draws you and and holds you until the end. When reading this book, I savored it and let the words fill me so that I could truly get the most out of the book. I don't like to read books fast. I like to take the time to enjoy books. This is one such that deserves that.

"Brain Trust" by Lynn Sholes & Joe Moore

Do you like mysteries? If so, this is the book for you. It's written so well that you find yourself emerged until the end. It's gripping and sweet. It has moments of wonder as well as moments of "OMG! What's going to happen next?" feelings. It's a book to pick up and enjoy. Get lost in the mystery. For those of you who have read Ken Follett, you will enjoy this book. That's how well it's written.

"Last Light Over Carolina" by Mary Alice Monroe

Life is precious. Love at first sight is special. This book teaches you about shrimping but, most of all, it teaches you about the interaction of people, the love and respect one has for the other or lack thereof due to conditions at hand.

I was pulled into the book by the shrimper who saw the woman of his dreams and made her his wife. I will pulled into the book by the woman in his life who loved the shrimper but became sad when the shrimper was out for months at a time. Missing the love of one's life is difficult. Remembering what's important is also difficult. It's when tragedy happens that one finds the true meaning of love.

Be mesmerized. Learn about the shrimping industry. Eat local shrimp!

"Swimming Lessons" by Mary Alice Monroe

What a beautifully written book this is! I finished reading it just moments ago and I'm still digesting the fact that the story is over. This book was filled with warmth, hope, love and caring. It taught us about the loggerheads and how we actually do help those in need. I had no idea this was going on and am very grateful for it. I love turtles. I love life. To spend one's time helping the nests/eggs is a gift to all. When children do this with such love and concern, it's incredible.

It's a story about a small community that takes care of each other. As they say, it takes a village to raise a child. This is one such example.

"Swimming Lessons" is all about taking chances, reaching for your dreams, helping others and finding love where you least expect it.

An emotional book filled with strength, love, hate and more. It's a beautifully written book about a African American woman and her son. The only African American woman working in the hospital. An RN who loves what she does and she does it well.

You will learn how two families come into contact. A white supremacist family and an African American family.

Learn how these two families fight through a terrible incident and go full circle to respecting each other.

Jodi Picoult has written another SPECTACULAR book that you won't want to put down. The emotions run wild and you will be caught up in them. You will be there. You will be SO glad you read the book!
